High CPU Usage After Firmware Upgrade
Information
Summary: |
This article covers the reason CPU usage is high after a firmware upgrade. |
Environment: |
Product: LoadMaster Version: Prior to 7.2.53.0 Platform: Any Application: Any |
Question/Problem Description: |
Why the CPU usage is high after the firmware upgrade? |
Steps to Reproduce: | |
Error Message: | |
Defect Number: | |
Enhancement Number: | |
Cause: | When upgrading the LMOS from a version prior to 7.2.53.0 to any LMOS version 7.2.53.0 and above, a new 4096-bit DHE key is generated. On smaller LoadMasters, this can lead to significant CPU and memory consumption that could impact regular virtual service traffic. |
Resolution: | It is unclear how long this behaviour may last but we have seen cases that the system CPU and/or memory returned to normal between 30 to 60 minutes. It is important to highlight that Progress Kemp strongly recommends that any firmware update be performed in a maintenance interval. |
