Information

Summary:

Syslog not working as expected after upgrading to firmware version 7.2.50

Environment:

Product: LoadMaster

Version: 7.2.50

Platform: Any

Application:

Question/Problem Description:

Want to send syslog logging to syslog server. but are getting unreadable logging data on syslog server.

Steps to Reproduce:
Error Message:
Defect Number:

PD-15103

Enhancement Number:
Cause: This is a bug on firmware version (7.2.50). The syslog engine ASSUMES that UDP is only on 514, but TCP on every other port which is why readable logs are not being sent to the syslog server.
Resolution:
  • As workaround, either set the protocol to TCP on the syslog server itself, or upgrade the LoadMaster's firmware version to any version after 7.2.50.
  • After upgrading, you will have the capability under the syslog options of selecting what protocol (UDP/TCP/TLS) to send syslog traffic to the server over.
Workaround:
