How to Migrate Kemp LoadMaster WUI and Interfaces

Before making changes to interface settings on a LoadMaster, Kemp recommends having console access, in addition to local access, for each network. This provides access if you need to revert any changes.

This guide instructs on how to move eth0 to eth2 and eth1 to eth3. Using these steps, you can move any interface for your specific configuration requirement.

KEMP recommends performing a backup of your current configuration, as this can be used to revert if needed.


Step 1: Enable WUI Admin Access

From the shared IP address, go to Certificates & Security > Remote Access.

Enable the Allow Multi Interface Access check box.

Then, navigate to System Configuration > Network Setup > ethN. On each of your active interfaces, you must enable the Allow Administrative WUI Access check box.

 

Check that you can browse to the Web User Interface (WUI) on both eth0 and eth1’s shared IP addresses before continuing.

 

Step 2: Enable Alternative Default Gateway

Before migrating the default gateway from eth0 to eth2, enable alternate gateway support:

System Configuration > Miscellaneous Options > Network Options > Enable Alternate GW support

 

Step 3: Moving the Interface Config from Eth1 to Eth3

Access the LoadMaster WUI using eth0’s shared IP address. Remove all IP addresses from eth1 and click Set Address.

Navigate to System Configuration > Network Setup > Interfaces > eth3.

Migrate the eth1 IP address settings to eth3: the Interface Address, prefix, HA Shared IP address and HA Partner IP address. Ensure that Use for HA checks and Allow Administrative WUI Access are enabled after moving the IP addresses. Test that you can reach the WUI on the eth3 shared IP address before continuing.

 

Step 4: Migrating eth0 to eth2

Important: You must connect locally to eth3. The default gateway of the LoadMaster is temporally unavailable as we proceed. Only local access is possible.

Remaining locally on eth3's shared IP address, navigate to System Configuration > HA Parameters and change the HA Update Interface temporally to eth3.

Navigate to Certificates & Security > Remote Access. Change the Allow Web Administrative Access from eth0 to eth3. Click OK when promoted with the warning.

You must click Set Administrative Access before you can continue.

You can now remove the IP configuration, and Use For HA checks from eth0 and migrate the Interface Address, prefix, HA Shared IP address and HA Partner IP address over to eth2. Enable the Use for HA checks and Allow Administrative WUI Access options.

Click Use for Default Gateway enter and confirm the gateway address.

Navigate to System Configuration > HA Parameters. Change the HA Update Interface to eth2.

 

Navigate to System Configuration > Network Setup > eth1. Disable Use For HA checks in eth0 and eth1.

Navigate to Certificates & Security > Remote Access. Change Allow Web Administrative Access to eth2.

 

You have now successfully migrated the interfaces.
