Invalid configuration for device '0'




  • Within vSphere, Eth0 interface was disconnected and lost access to the Web Interface of the LoadMaster
  • When trying to re-connect eth0, vSphere presented the following error and would not allow for it to be added back

Question/Problem Description:

vSphere will not allow for NIC1 (eth0) to be re-connected after temporarily being disconnected

Steps to Reproduce:  
Error Message: invalid configuration for device '0'
Defect Number:  
Enhancement Number:  
Cause: Invalid port group selection
  1. Connect vSphere Client to the vCenter Server.
  2. Right-click the virtual machine and select Edit Settings.
  3. Select the Network Card and change the Port Group settings to a different Port Group and click OK.
  4. Change the Port Group of the virtual machine back to the original Port Group and click OK.
Notes: Powering on / Cloning a virtual machine fails with the error: "Invalid Configuration for Device 0"
