The possibility of multiple mirroring ports forwarded to one monitoring interface on Flowmon probe

Information

Summary:

The possibility of multiple mirroring ports forwarded to one monitoring interface on Flowmon probe

Environment:

Product: Flowmon Probe

Version: Any

Platform: Any

Question/Problem Description:

"Do we need to send traffic from mirrored ports from 3 switches to 3 separate Flowmon monitoring interfaces, i.e. 1:1? Would it be somehow possible to just send everything to one port, i.e. 3:1?"

Steps to Reproduce:
Error Message:
Defect Number:
Enhancement Number:
Cause:
Resolution:

There can be any number of sources of mirrored traffic comming to the probe, if:

a) the aggregated traffic doesn't exceed the performance limit of the monitoring port, which is based on a specific model, see:

b) the mirrored traffic from TAPs / mirror ports from switches is aggregated into one and then forwarded to the monitoring port of the Flowmon probe. This can be established, for example, via a network packet broker and similar devices.
