Header rules not being removed/added after refreshing page

Information

Summary:

During the initial connection, the content rules within the virtual service are processed.
Once the page has been refreshed, the removed headers are visible again and the added headers are no longer visible.

Environment:

Product: LoadMaster

Version: 7.2.58

Platform: Any

Application: HTTP/HTTPS

Question/Problem Description:

It appears that the host removal rules we have in place do not seem to be taking effect.

Steps to Reproduce:
Error Message:
Defect Number: LM-2431
Enhancement Number:
Cause:

The LoadMaster should be re-running the content rules when refreshing an expired cache entry.

With this firmware bug, the rules are not being re-run when refreshing an entry.

Resolution:
Workaround:

Create cascading virtual services as a workaround.

  1. Set up two virtual services.
  2. The first virtual service will be where clients connect to and where the content rules should be added to add/delete headers. The real server will be pointing to the second virtual service. WAF should also be enabled here.
  3. The second virtual service will have caching enabled and be using SubVS. SSL offloading/re-encryption will be enabled here as well.
  4. Inside the SubVS you will have the actual real server assigned.
  5. The scheduling method and persistence will also be enabled here on the SubVS.
Notes: Due to be fixed in a future firmware release.
