Allowing non-local Real Servers to be assigned to a Virtual Service

To allow non-local Real Servers to be assigned to a Virtual Service, follow the steps below:

  1. In the main menu of the LoadMaster Web User Interface (WUI), select System Configuration > Miscellaneous Options > Network Options.
  2. Select the Enable Non-Local Real Servers check box.
  3. In the main menu, select Virtual Services > View/Modify Services.
  4. Click Modify on the relevant Virtual Service.
  5. Expand the Standard Options section.
  6. Ensure that Transparency is disabled.
  7. Expand the Real Servers section.
  8. Click Add New.
  9. Select the Allow Remote Addresses check box.
  10. Fill out the details as needed.
  11. Click Add This Real Server.

This article assumes a TCP Virtual Service. It does not take into account a UDP Virtual Service in which you must "Force L7". Unfortunately, this doesn't help for one-way UDP such as syslog data that you might want to remain transparent.

How to "Select the Allow Remote Addresses check box" if I'd like to use the REST API?
I couldn't find it in the programmer guide

edit: I've found it in the Interface description document, it is the non_local=1 parameter

Thanks for you question. You are correct. The non_local parameter in the API represents the "Allow Remote Addresses" setting in the WUI.
