How to configure email alerting for Kemp LoadMaster log events

To send LoadMaster error messages to an email address, follow the steps below in the LoadMaster Web User Interface (WUI):

  1. In the main menu, go to System Configuration > Logging Options > Email Options.

  2. Select Enable Email Logging.

  3. Enter the IP address or Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the SMTP server in the SMTP Server field text box and click Set Server.

  4. Enter the username for the SMTP server in the Server Authorization (Username) text box, if there is an authorization setup on the server. Click Set.

  5. Enter the password for the SMTP server in the Authorization Password text box, if there is an authorization setup on the server. Click Set Password.

  6. Enter in the top-level domain of the SMTP server in the Local Domain text box if it is part of a domain. Click Set Domain.

  7. Select the type of Connection Security.

  8. Finally, there are a number of different levels of alerts, ranging from normal information to critical and emergency errors. Enter email addresses in these text boxes as needed. Multiple email address can be entered in the by putting a comma and space between both addresses, for example test@kemptechnologies.com, sales@kemptechnologies.com.

  • Emergency – The system is unusable and requires immediate attention
  • Critical – Should be corrected immediately, but indicates failure in a primary system
  • Error - Non-urgent failures but should be looked at ASAP
  • Warn - Not an error, but indication that an error will occur if action is not taken
  • Notice - Events that are unusual but not error conditions - no immediate action required
  • Info - Normal operational messages - may be harvested for reporting

Once this is complete, of the relevant error messages will be sent to the email address(es) specified.
please note that if the recipients will get emails based on their level as well as more severe messages
for example "Error Recipients" will receive Error, Critical and Emergency emails

Looking for "Sender's Email" option in Email Logging. Do we have such option?

LoadMaster Version: 7.2.51.0.18987.RELEASE.20200629-1023
Serial Number: TSBI72006706

Not receiving emails from LoadMaster after configuration

Hi.  To be clear you want to configure the email address the LM is sending as?

If so, that is not possible.  It will send the email as the LM Host name configure under:

system config > network setup > host & dns config.

Plus, the severity of the log message as well as the domain configured in those options.

So, the most you can configure is the Hostname of the LM

Thanks for the reply, so if the hostname is "abc" I would receive email from: INFO-Logger.abc@kemptechonologies.com  ??

I would receive such emails for Critical, Warning, Emergency ?

For the most part yes.  The 'local domain' option there should change the domain the LM is sending it as also.

Domain is xyz, hence the email that I would receive would be "INFO-Logger.abc@xyz.com ?

It would be great if there was the option to set notifications per VS, we used this heavily in our previous implementation of haproxy where it was necessary to notify certain people if certain VSs or Real Servers were playing up.

When I disable a RealServer it is an Error not a Warning? Why?

Errors are unplanned, to disabled a VS Real Server ist planned.

In Our Environment Errors generating Tickets/Inicdents, but Warnings do not, but when I (planned) restart one Real-Server..  :-/
