2 Introduction

KEMP 360 Central needs to be licensed before it can be used. A KEMP ID is required to license KEMP 360 Central. Follow the steps in the Register for a KEMP ID section to register for a KEMP ID (if you do not already have one) and then license KEMP 360 Central. If you have forgotten your KEMP ID password, you can reset it. Refer to the Reset the KEMP ID Password section for instructions on how to do this. If you already have a KEMP ID, skip to the Activate the License section to activate the KEMP 360 Central license.

Registration of a KEMP ID only needs to be completed once. The same KEMP ID account can be used to license other KEMP products in the future.

2.1 Document Purpose

This document guides you through the KEMP 360 Central licensing process.

2.2 Intended Audience

This document is intended to be read by anyone who needs guidance during the KEMP 360 Central licensing process.

2.3 Prerequisites

This document assumes that KEMP 360 Central has already been installed up to the point where it needs to be licensed. For installation instructions, please refer to the relevant KEMP 360 Central Installation Guide on the KEMP documentation page: www.kemptechnologies.com/documentation.

3 License KEMP 360 Central

A KEMP ID is required to license KEMP 360 Central. The Register for a KEMP ID section contains instructions on how to register for a KEMP ID, if you do not already have one.

3.1 Register for a KEMP ID

To register for a KEMP ID, follow the steps below:

1. Go to https://kemptechnologies.com/kemp-id-registration.

2. Fill out all of the fields on the form.

Enter a valid Email Address. The validation email and license information will be sent to this email address.

3. Make note of this password, as it will be needed to activate the account.

4. Click Create a KEMP ID.

5. A success message will be displayed. An email will be sent from KEMP to the address specified in the form.

6. Go to the email and click the activation link provided to open the validation screen.

If you do not activate the account within 24 hours of registering, the record will be deleted and you will need to register again.

7. Enter the password that you specified on the registration form.

8. Click Activate Now.

9. A success message will appear. Another email will be sent to inform that the account is now active.

This KEMP account can now be used to activate products.

3.1.1 Register for a KEMP ID

3.1.2 Changing the KEMP ID Email Address

If the email address, or any other details associated with the KEMP ID needs to be changed for any reason, please contact KEMP Technologies who can update the record.

3.2 Activate the License

There are three methods to activate a license – online, offline or manually.

Online licensing can be used when KEMP 360 Central has access to the internet.

For steps on licensing KEMP 360 Central using the online method, refer to the Online Licensing section.

Offline licensing can be used when KEMP 360 Central does not have access to the internet.

For steps on licensing the LoadMaster using the offline method, refer to the Offline Licensing section.

Manual licensing involves a verbal transfer and manual entry of a license. This is usually used when there is a network configuration or there are security requirements, which prevent internet connectivity of network devices or administrative systems.

For steps on licensing the LoadMaster using the manual method, refer to the Manual Licensing section.

3.2.1 Online Licensing

Online licensing can be used if KEMP 360 Central has access to the internet.

To activate the KEMP 360 Central license using the online method, follow the steps below:

1. Access the KEMP 360 Central UI by entering the address in a web browser.

Ensure to add https:// before the address.

2. A warning may appear regarding website security certificates. Please click the continue/ignore option.

If this is the first time accessing the WUI, the End User License Agreement (EULA) may need to be accepted.

3. Ensure that Online is selected.

4. Enter an Order ID, if desired. An Order ID is supplied by KEMP when you purchase a KEMP 360 Central license. Entering an Order ID is optional for standard licenses.

5. Enter your KEMP ID (the email address used when registering the KEMP account).

A KEMP ID is required to license KEMP 360 Central. If you do not have a KEMP ID, click the link provided and register one. For step-by-step instructions on how to register for a KEMP ID, refer to the Register for a KEMP ID section.

6. Enter your Password.

7. If needed, you can configure KEMP 360 Central to connect to other networks using a proxy server. To do this, click Advanced settings and fill out the fields provided.

8. Click License Now.

9. Enter a new admin password in the two text boxes provided and click Set Password.

The bar in the middle represents the strength of the password. The fuller the bar is - the more secure the password is.

The initial configuration of KEMP 360 Central is now complete. For further information, including instructions on how to add a network and LoadMaster to KEMP 360 Central, refer to the KEMP 360 Central, Feature Description.

3.2.2 Online Licensing

Online licensing can be used if KEMP 360 Central has access to the internet.

3.2.3 Manual Licensing

3. Contact your KEMP licensing representative.

4. Provide the KEMP representative with the Fingerprint, which is displayed.

5. The KEMP representative will provide you with a 32-character license string which must be entered in the text box provided. Dashes will be automatically added while typing.

6. Click License Now.

4 Updating a License

To upgrade your KEMP 360 license, first contact KEMP who will enable the license upgrade on your account. When this has been completed, click the cog icon in KEMP 360 Central and select License Management. There are two ways to update the license – using the online method or the offline method. Follow the steps in the relevant section below.

4.1 Update using the Online Licensing Method

Enter the KEMP ID and Password and click License Now.

4.2 Update using the Offline Licensing Method

To update the license using the offline method, follow the steps below:

1. Click the here link, or go to the link provided on a computer which has internet access.

2. Copy the Fingerprint from the KEMP 360 Central screen and enter it in the Offline Licensing Page.

3. Copy the Serial Number from the KEMP 360 Central screen and enter it in the Offline Licensing Page.

4. If you have a Service Provider License Agreement (SPLA), select the SPLA check box. If you have a standard license, do not select the SPLA check box.

5. Enter the Order ID if you have one. The Order ID is provided by KEMP when a license is purchased.

6. Enter the Kemp ID and Password.

7. Click Generate License.

8. An email is sent to the KEMP ID specified. This email contains a section called License Block.

9. Copy the License Block text.

10. In KEMP 360 Central - paste the License Block text into the text box provided.

11. Click License Now.
