Version: Any

Platform: Any

Application: Any

Question/Problem Description:

How can TPS limit logs be seen in the LoadMaster log files?

Steps to Reproduce:
Error Message:

2024-01-09T13:53:18-05:00 lb100 vsslproxy: tps_limit reached - connection dropped
Defect Number:
Enhancement Number:
Cause: By default, TPS limit reached logs are not present in the System Message File since these are debug logs.
Resolution:
Workaround:

** A VLM-50 was used as a example in this article. The TPS limit for this virtual unit is 50 TPS **

TPS logs are categorized as vsslproxy debug logs. In order for these to show up in the System Message File, vsslproxy debug must be enabled.

To do so, navigate to the LoadMaster's Web User Interface > System Configuration > Logging Options > System Log Files > Debug Options:

Debug Options.png

Then, click on Enable Extended Debug > Process Debug:

Process Debug.png

From here, set vsslproxy to "1":

Once the vsslproxy debug has been enabled, should the TPS be exceeded, tps_limit logs will show in the System Message File.

For this example, the limit for VLM-50s is 50 TPS. Below is the expected behavior when this limit is exceeded:

NOTE: Extended Debug logs can be noisy. It is not recommended to leave these enabled indefinitely. These logs must be used for troubleshooting purposes in a fixed period of time.
