Information

Summary:

Meaning of the logs "sshd: fatal: userauth_finish: Connection reset by peer [preauth]"

Environment:

Product: LoadMaster

Version: Any

Platform: Any

Application: Any

Question/Problem Description:

What is the meaning of the logs:

sshd: fatal: userauth_finish: Connection reset by peer [preauth]

Steps to Reproduce:
Error Message:
Defect Number: N/A
Enhancement Number: N/A
Cause: These errors are reflecting problems with the SSH Daemon when a user SSH's to the LoadMaster's interface IP. This can happen if there is a program scanning the network for open ports at that time. If this happens daily around the same time it could be related to a scheduled task or scan.
Resolution: The error indicates that an attempt to access the LoadMaster WUI has failed. The connection is reset very early in the initial handshake. Also, if SSH is not actively in use for the LoadMaster, this can be alleviated by disabling it from the LoadMaster WUI: Certificates and Security>Remote Access> uncheck to disable 'Allow Remote SSH Access'
Workaround:
