BGP routing information available in flow data

Information

Summary:

The article describes which BGP information is available in the flow data and which is not.

Environment:

Product: Flowmon Collector

Version: Any

Platform: Any

Question/Problem Description:

How can I find BGP information in Flowmon?

Steps to Reproduce:
Error Message:
Defect Number:
Enhancement Number:
Cause:
Resolution:

BGP information such as AS Path, BGP Community, AS Origin, Local AS, No Advertise, No Export, and No Peer is part of the BGP communication protocol. Flowmon Probe does not parse BGP protocol on the L7 level, and we are not aware of any third-party flow source exporting this information.

Flowmon Collector is able to collect information about the source/destination AS number, BGP next hop IP, and BGP adjacent next/previous AS. Next hop IP and adjacent AS numbers have to be exported by routers (included in flow data). If routers export this information, it has to be enabled also on the Flowmon Collector in Configuration Center - FMC Configuration - Flow database fields - BGP next HOP IP address, BGP adjacent prev/next AS.

More information about available flow fields can be found in our documentation:
