Summary:

Allow traffic on a particular TCP/UDP port within an AWS environment.

Question/Problem Description:

Traffic flow for a particular TCP/UDP is being prevented with an AWS environment.

Steps to Reproduce:

Cause: When a new service is created, the port is blocked by default within AWS.
Resolution:
  • Log into the AWS Management Console and navigate to the EC2.mceclip0.png
  • Select the EC2 instance on which the Virtual Machine is running and navigate to "Security Groups," then select the tab for "Inbound" rules and click the "Edit" button.mceclip3.png
  • With the "Edit inbound rules" window open, choose "Add Rule."mceclip2.png
  • Select the type of traffic that will be allowed from the drop-down under "Type," then specify the "Protocol" and "Port Range." This step can be repeated for any additional ports that should be allowed.
  • Click "Save."
