Information

Summary:

Attempting renewal of SSL certificate

Environment:

Product: LoadMaster

Version: Any

Platform: Any

Application: Any

Question/Problem Description:

Trying to renew management certificate for one of our loadmaster. but receiving an invalid format error.

Steps to Reproduce:
Error Message: Invalid format
Defect Number:
Enhancement Number:
Cause: Certificate file was not in an acceptable format.
Resolution:
  • Getting error "Invalid format" at time of installing the certificate. EU was attempting to upload the cert without a passphrase.
  • The two formats officially supported by the LoadMaster are .PEM and .PFX.
  • It is recommended to use one of these formats, although the .CER format is also acceptable.
  • When importing the certificate, the LoadMaster requires that either the private key or passphrase (if the key is in the certificate file) are provided.  Unable to import certificate without one of those two items.
  • If there is no way to locate the private key or obtain the passphrase, will need to re-generate the certificate in the .PFX format along with a passphrase.
  • Generated .CSR file along with Private key. Customer shared these file with their internal team to convert the csr into a .PFX
