How to be alerted when bandwidth logs appear

Information

Summary:

How to tell which virtual service is taking up bandwidth.

How to be alerted when these messages appear in the log files.

Environment:

Product: LoadMaster

Version: Any

Platform: Any

Application: Any

Question/Problem Description:

Saw this error in 360 Vision and was wondering if it was possible to see which service was taking up the bandwidth.  Is there a way to get alerts when this happens?

Steps to Reproduce:
Error Message:  Bandwidth limit exceeded in the last 10 seconds - maybe you should buy some more bandwidth?
Defect Number:
Enhancement Number:
Cause:
Resolution:
  • There is no sure way to determine which virtual service is utilizing the most bandwidth.
  • One thing that can be done would be to analyze the statistics for the virtual services and how many active connections there are per second.  This will display which virtual service is the most active.
  • To view this, navigate to Statistics > Real Time Statistics > Virtual Services.
  • stats.PNG
  • As for being notified, a user can set up email notifications for LoadMaster log events by following the steps outlined here.
  • A Syslog server can also be configured within the LoadMaster as outlined here.
  • The bandwidth log message is set at the error level so the email logging and Syslog server will need to at least be set to the Error level.
