Exchange 2013 Webservices not working

0

We have three Exchange 2013 CAS servers behind the a Kemp Load Balancer. I uploaded the Exchange 2013 template from the Kemp website. Using the Core services template I added the IP addresses of the 3 CAS servers.

From the Kemp devices I am able to ping the CAS servers. I see in the IIS logs that the Kemp load balancer is hitting the WWW service on the CAS server as I see it running the health check. But when I go to https://IP/owa OWA does not come up. If I go to the URL https://cas_server/owa OWA comes up and I am able to login.

I do not know why the Kemp load balancer is not passing the web traffic back to the client. I did very little configurations because I used the template. Also I am new to the Kemp product line and cannot find any logging at the VIP level.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Joel,
While it is difficult to deduce the issue, my first guess would be that it is a simple routing issue.

Possibilities:
1. You have Transparency enabled on the Virtual Service. If this is the case you will need to set the Default Gateway of the CAS server to be the Loadmaster.

  1. If transparency is not in use the change of Default Gateway is not required, however, you may need to enable a feature called Subnet originating requests to ensure the LM->CAS requests are local and replies from CAS route through the Loadmaster.

I would recommend you check out the following:

Barry,

Thank you for the suggestion, I did not do that on the CAS servers. I just have one follow up question. I have a pair of Loadmaster. Which Loadmaster do I want to make my gateway on the CAS servers?

Barry,

Do to our network configuration we went with your the 2nd option that you listed. Turning off transparency for the VIP and enabling Subnet originating requests. After making these two changes everything started to work and I was able to access OWA through the VIP.

Thanks for all your help.
