Load Balancing Microsoft Dynamic AX 2009

1   Introduction

Microsoft Dynamics AX is an ERP software solution used in multi-site, international enterprises. It has comprehensive capabilities for financial, human resources, and operations management. Dynamics AX also supports multi-site operations across different regions where it provides cross organization process automation.

By incorporating a Kemp Load balancing solution you will facilitate your Dynamics AX system in horizontal scaling, enable High Availability, perform health checks at the application layer which will ensure persistent and efficient work flows to your Dynamics AX cluster.

 

1.1  Document Purpose

This section details a configuration for a specific application that has been provided by a customer but has yet to be fully tested.

This specific configuration will enable Dynamics AX Application Object Server(AOS) and AX ERP Portal to be Load Balanced.

Configuration has yet to be fully verified, Kemp Support will gladly assist if Dyanmics AX traffic is not flowing as expected.

 

2    Configuration Required

 

2.1  Global Configuration

      >No Changes Required

 

2.2  Virtual Service Configuration: 

 

2.3   AX Object Access Virtual Service

      > New Virtual Service

      > Enter IP Address

      > Port = 2712

      > Name = DynamicsAX-AOS

      > Add New Virtual Service

 

2.4    Standard Options   

      > Disable Transparency     

      > Additional Ports  = 1433,1812,1814,8101,8201,8202

      > Server Initiating Protocols = Normal Protocols

      >  Persistence = Source-IP

      >  Persistence Time = 30 Mins  

      > Scheduling Method = Least Connection

      >  Idle Connection Timeout = 660  (Default)

 

2.5   Real Servers

      > Checker Parameter Type = TCP

      > Check Port = 2712

      > Add New 

      > Enter Server IP Address

      > Port = 2712

      > Add This Server

 

2.6  ERP Portal Virtual Service

      > New Virtual Service

      > Enter IP Address

      > Port = 443

      > Name =AX ERP Portal

      > Add New Virtual Service

 

2.7    Standard Options   

      > Disable Transparency     

      >  Persistence = Source-IP

      >  Persistence Time = 30 Mins  

      > Scheduling Method = Least Connection

      >  Idle Connection Timeout = 660  (Default)

 

2.8   Enable SSL Acceleration  (Enable Re-encryption if Server Requires)

      >  Assign Certificate

 

2.9   Real Servers

      > Add New 

     >  Real Server Address  = Enter IP of Real Server

     >  Port = 443

     >  Forwarding Method = nat

     >   Add this real server

 

      > Checker Parameter Type = HTTP

      > Check Port = 443

      >  Enable HTTP/1.1:

     >   HTTP/1.1 Host =  domain.com

    >   HTTP Method  =  GET
