Load Balancing VMWare Vrealize Automation

1   Introduction

VMware vRealize ™ Automation provides a secure portal where authorized administrators, developers, or business users can request new IT services. In addition, they can manage specific cloud and IT resources that enable IT organizations to deliver services that can be configured to their lines of business in a self-service catalog.

VMware vRealize Automation automates the delivery of personalized infrastructure, applications and custom IT services.

This cloud automation software lets you deploy across a multi-vendor hybrid cloud infrastructure, giving you both flexibility and investment protection for current and future technology choices.

 

1.1  Document Purpose

This section details a configuration for a specific application that has been provided by a customer but has yet to be fully tested.

This specific configuration will ensure that your vRealize servers are highly-available, scalable, and secure.

Configuration has yet to be fully verified, Kemp Support will gladly assist if your vRealize traffic is not flowing as expected.

 

2. Configuration Required

Four Layer 4 Virtual Services Required. These services will have Transparency automatically enabled. So your Real Servers will need to have their gateways set to the Load Masters physical interface IP. Shared IP if running a HA pair.     1. vRealize Cafe    

    2. vRealize Cafe Console   

    3. vRealize Web

    4. vRealize Manager

 

2.1  Global Configuration

       No Changes Required.

 

3  Virtual Service Configuration: 

 

 3.1  vRealize Cafe Virtual Service

      > New Virtual Service

      > Enter IP Address

      > Port = 443

      > Name = vRealize Cafe

      > Add New Virtual Service

3.2     Standard Options

       >  Disable L7

       >  Persistence = Source IP

       >  Timeout = 6 Minutes

      >   Scheduling Method = Round Robin

      

 

3.3       Real Servers

      > Checker Parameter Type = HTTPS 

      > Check Port =  443

     >  URL:  /vcac/services/api/health

      > Add New 

 

      > Enter Real Server IP Address

      > Port = 443

      > Forwarding Method = NAT


 

4.0  vRealize Cafe Console Virtual Service

      > New Virtual Service

      > Enter IP Address

      > Port = 8444

      > Name = vRealize Cafe Console

      > Add New Virtual Service

 

4.1      Standard Options

       >  Disable L7

       >  Persistence = Source IP

       >  Timeout = 6 Minutes

      >   Scheduling Method = Round Robin

      

 

4.2    Real Servers

      > Checker Parameter Type = TCP

      > Check Port =  8444

      > Add New 

 

 

    > Enter Real Server IP Address

      > Port = 8444

      > Forwarding Method = NAT




 

4.0  vRealize Web Virtual Service

      > New Virtual Service

      > Enter IP Address

      > Port = 443

      > Name = vRealize Web

      > Add New Virtual Service

 

4.1      Standard Options

       >  Disable L7

       >  Persistence = Source IP

       >  Timeout = 6 Minutes

      >   Scheduling Method = Round Robin

      

 

4.2    Real Servers

      > Checker Parameter Type = HTTPS

      >  URL: /wapi/api/status/web

      > Check Port =  443

      >  Reply 200 Pattern = REGISTERED

      > Add New 

 

    > Enter Real Server IP Address

      > Port = 443

      > Forwarding Method = NAT





4.0  vRealize Manager Virtual Service

      > New Virtual Service

      > Enter IP Address

      > Port = 443

      > Name = vRealize Manager

      > Add New Virtual Service

4.1      Standard Options

       >  Disable L7

       >  Persistence = Source IP

       >  Timeout = 6 Minutes

      >   Scheduling Method = Round Robin

      

 

4.2    Real Servers

      > Checker Parameter Type = HTTPS

      >  URL: /VMPSProvision

      > Check Port =  443

      >  Reply 200 Pattern = ProvisionService

      > Add New 

 

    > Enter Real Server IP Address

      > Port = 443

      > Forwarding Method = NAT
