Load Balancing Novell Filr

1   Introduction

Novell Filr gives IT an enterprise-class alternative to the cloud-based file sharing services many users are leveraging under the radar. With Filr, files are easily accessed and shared, but without leaving your on-premise file servers.

 

1.1  Document Purpose

This section details a configuration for a specific application that has been provided by a customer but has yet to be fully tested.

This specific configuration will ensure that your Novell Filr servers are highly-available, scalable, and secure.

Configuration has yet to be fully verified, Kemp Support will gladly assist if your Novell traffic is not flowing as expected.

 

2. Configuration Required

    One Virtual Service listening port 443, where traffic will be forwarded to the backend servers on port 8443.

   

2.1  Global Configuration

       No Changes Required.

 

3  Virtual Service Configuration: 

 

 3.1  Novell Filr

      > New Virtual Service

      > Enter IP Address

      > Port = 443

      > Name = Novell Filr

      > Add New Virtual Service

 

3.2     Standard Options

       >  Disable Transparency

       >  Persistence = Source IP

       >  Timeout = 1 Hour

       >   Scheduling Method = Round Robin

 

 

3.3      Real Servers

      > Checker Parameter Type = HTTPS

      >  Port = 8443

      > URL: = /ssf/a/c/p_name/ss_forum/p_action/1/action/view_permalink/showCollection/-1/entityType/user/entryId/

     >  Add New

     

   

      > Enter Real Server IP Address

      > Port = 8443

      > Forwarding Method = NAT
