Traffic forwarding based on source address?

Hi All,

I wonder if someone could say if the following scenario is a possible configuration:

We have two datacenters, one in the US and on in the UK. In each datacenter we host an identical application. When all services are up and running wanted to serve the 'local' users via the local server, routing to it via the KEMP. However, should the local server be unavailable, then the KEMP would forward to the server in the alternate DC.

The vision for this would be a KEMP at each datacenter, working more in an active / passive type config.

I can't seen an obvious want to do this, though I'm not overly familiar with the scheduling methods as I've traditionally only used Round Robin or Weighted Round Robin which obivously wouldn't work in this scenario.

Hope the above makes sense.

Thanks in advance

Adam

Thanks for reaching out, Adam.

This is possible through the use of GEO, specifically using the Location Based Selection Criteria.

To ensure GEO can be used, navigate to your web UI. If the Global Balancing tab is present, then GEO is available. Otherwise, you'll need to obtain Enterprise Plus support, which can be done by purchasing or through the use of a Trial unit.

More information on Location Based load balancing can be found here: https://support.kemptechnologies.com/hc/en-us/articles/203125189-GEO-Feature-Description#MadCap_TOC_4_4_..4

If you'd like, please feel free to open a case and we will be happy to assist in this configuration. Note, this unit will need to be in support in order to receive assistance.
